Retro Print | Surf Bells Beach | Australia
Retro surf poster print for Bells Beach - on the Great Ocean Road outside Torquay in Victoria - by Mornington Peninsula art director and surfer Tony Leishman.
A world-famous surfing destination and home of the World Tour's RipCurl Pro surfing event each Easter, the Bells surf was discovered in 1957 when members of the Torquay Surf Lifesaving Club trekked through the bush and first rode the big waves. The Bells Easter contest has been held since 1962 and is now the longest-running professional surfing event in the world.
Surfing Bells on a big day is a thrill. As you paddle out past the 'Bowl' you can see the large sets approaching as they break across the reef at 'Centerside' in the distance. With anticipation you head for the horizon hoping you're out far enough not to be caught inside and hammered on the reef. Bells is a stunning natural amphitheatre capturing big swells from the southern ocean that produce large, long and powerful right handers.
Tony has been surfing for many years and has created a range of vintage surfing prints covering many of Australia’s best-known surf destinations.
An archival quality reproduction professionally printed in Australia.
