Skipping Girl Vinegar Melbourne 6" x 8" Print

Harper and Charlie’s Skipping Girl Vinegar Melbourne print aka ’Little Audrey’ with a blue sky. This illustration may not make a lot of sense to anybody outside of Melbourne, Australia, but this heritage-listed neon sign is part of the cultural fabric of Melbourne. Built in the mid-’30s, the neon ‘skipping rope’ was illuminated in four sequential positions to give the appearance of her skipping rope, while the horizontal neon tubes beneath her would also illuminate in an up and down vertical sequence to mimic her jumping up and down.

Little Audrey brought a lot of joy (especially for children) at night or stuck in peak hour traffic on busy Victoria Street, well before digital devices and advertising came along.

Harper and Charlie’s Skipping Girl Vinegar Melbourne illustration is original in its concept and design.

Original design with vintage print techniques by Harper and Charlie in Melbourne.

The distinctive look of Harper and Charlie’s artwork is achieved by using vintage print techniques, such as coarse halftone screens, slipped registration, colour bleed, scuffs and scratches etc. which add to the look and feel of each design. Please note these elements have all been applied to the art on purpose and are not print defects in the final print.

Printed with the highest commercial grade pigment inks on premium grade ILFORD 180gsm matt paper.

The total print size as specified in the product listing includes the shown border around the design as part of the finished image. Please note, the width of the border on each design varies with each print size.
