About Annabel Trends
Back to 1966 Where it all began
Annie Dawe dreamt up ideas for the home back in 1966… bright 60’s colours, bold patterns and innovative kitchen napery emerged from her own kitchen table, all those years ago. Gradually over the years, Annie explored new niche markets so that Annabel Trends has become what it is today - a family company dedicated to supplying the marketplace with giftware that sets trends, with strengths in design, colour, practicality and presentation.
History
1966 It all began when Annie started making handmade toys for the Brookville Kindergarten fete. Her first sales followed soon after to Humpty Dumpty Toy Shop in South Yarra and Matchbox in Armadale, featuring her beloved dressed rag dolls.
1967 Annie ventured into kitchen napery, selling to Georges Home Store and introducing Australia’s first clash colour prints - bold oranges, pinks, and playful patterns.
1974 Exhibited at the very first Australian Trade Fair, marking the start of Annabel Trends’ trade journey
1980's Expanded internationally after meeting Marlene from Earthly Things at the High Point Trade Fair in North Carolina, launching The Australian Gardener’s Range in the US. Also imported throws from the US, growing the homewares collection and ushering in the era of tapestry cushions, throw rugs, novelty soaps, and garden gifts.
1990's Became a pop culture favourite, featured in Two Fat Ladies, The Naked Chef, and Kath & Kim through licensing with the ABC and BBC. This decade also saw the creation of our iconic heat pillow and eye rest pillow, leading the way in Australian wellbeing products.
1997 Proudly awarded Gift of the Year.
2026 (and beyond) Celebrating 60 years of Annabel Trends — a proud Australian brand built on creativity, family, and joy. Our mission continues: “Unwrapping happiness, one gift at a time.”
